Info on Cane Creek lake, Star City

1st post for me. Been coaching 25 plus yrs in south arkansas. Starting to wind down a little. Bought boat last summer. My youngest plays softball at tourn in Rison on sat. eve. Thought wife and i might check out Cane creek that morning and circle back through for game. I'll be looking for bream mostly but will fish for white perch if they are biting. I heard its a good lake. Would someone please share some insight on where to go on this lake. Im an old rookie at this fishing stuff. Thanks in advance and i hope everyone fills up their coolers this weekend. Weather looks great down south!

I never did any good crappie fishing there, but bream were plentyfull when I was just out of college (15 yrs ago). we would always launch at the state park, and hang a right leaving the ramp and fish all the woody structure for a couple hundred yards. Crickets and worms.

I haven't been there in a few years. But, it used to be a good lake for big uns. DP

Thanks for help so far. I like getting out on different lakes from time to time. We may not catch a thing but we will pass a good time!

I think you're still a little early for bream fishing, but if I were going there I would leave boat ramp at state park, take left through beaver pond (follow marked trails) go 100 yards work to the right through the trees to the edge and fish from there to the shallower water, there's a little channel outside the trees that runs between them and the big shallow flat. They should be around 5-8'. I've not heard of anyone catching much lately, but this warmer weather should start them moving shallow. There are some good ones in there, but may be couple of weeks before its right.
