Fish Attractant

I have two different kinds of fish attractant that I haven't had a chance to use yet. One is 'bubble gum' and the other is 'shad' flavor. I was under the impression that all brands would have some variation of a 'fishy' smell to which the shad flavor has. Can anyone tell me if and/or why a bubble flavor would work, has any attractant worked for them and which brand/flavor catches more fish?

I too have the 'bubble gum' attractant haven't used it yet and has me wondering as it really has a bubble gum smell. Uncle Homer Circle use to say they were just cover sprays to cover human odors.
I can see the fishy attractants doing good.
