Pond Crappie Question
Fishing a pond that is clear(prob 3 foot vis) . Not sure what temp of water is. can see crappie over some beds and I was bouncing a jig on there heads and couldn't get a bite..... Tried out deeper even and changed colors but still no takers. Just wondered if it was because water was so clear or they just weren't hungry. Thanks

If you can see them, they certainly could see you. I'd try my best to stay a good distance from them, and go small, and match what they are eating in that pond.

I will definitely try smaller locater. Thanks! I did cast down the bank farther were I don't think they could have seen me. A lot of fish up shallow bluegill, bass and minnows.

the crappies I have been catching want very little movement on the jig. I'm using a 32 oz and just letting it hang no bouncing

Will give that a try too......Thanks bassing

If I was fishing in a pond that was that clear I would try using a small jig under a bobber tipped with wax worms. Remember crappie feed upwards. If you are seeing them at 3 foot fish between 2 and 2 1/2 feet

That fish and the other 50 I seen around the bank did not want anything I had to offer. Watch them for an hour and other fish would swim up and lay on there side and then swim away...

Id hook a minnow without a weight and a finess float about four feet above the minnow and whip that out there. You'll get a taker when that minnow starts swimmen around. Just get back away from em so they can't see ya.

That would probably work if the owner would let me use minnows but they don't like that...Lol Do you think there just not bitting during actual spawn?
