12V Wirinig
I just ordered a new 12V Terrova 55 with ipilot link and HB 859 HD DI to put on the bow of my boat. I am going to use the same wires and 60 amp circuit breaker that is on my boat. Question is, can I splice into the same trolling motor wires to get my 12V for the fish finder and run a inline 3-5 amp fuse for it? Will there be any interference/noise from the troller if I do it that way?
Next question. My new motor has the us2 transducer and I read that it was compatible with the 859. Does the us2 transducer have the DI built into it or will it only be 2D sonar?

NO!! It would be best to keep these power supplies isolated to reduce the chance of RF interference. I run my bow unit power from my cranking battery because the big motor doesn't run while I'm up front.
The US2 will only give you 2D on the 859. In order to see the DI, you will need to put the DI transducer into service somewhere. I have mine mounted to the TM, but there are guys using some alternate mounts on the bow.

Thanks for the quick response. I was hoping I could tap into the troller 12V supply. I will run new wires for the finder. Do you know what gauge wire for the finder. Gonna be about an 18 foot run to the cranking battery. And I had my doubts about the DI on the us2 transducer.

ALSO make sure your feeds for your FF run on other side of the boat. Running next to each other will cause your FF to look funny every time you press the peddle :dono

I think the wire gauge can be fairly small....like a 16 or 18? There is a special marine paired wire that is tinned throughout to keep it from oxidizing. Go to the electronics forum and read about wiring....things to do, and things to avoid.
Here is a link to some wire
