Feeding live bait

Hi. I don't mean to sound dump but being new a fishing I'm using what thay called giant red worms. What is the proper way to feed and care for the in between fishing trips? And also starting to use crickets, how are thay cared for? Thanks.

A little cornmeal for worms and a cut piece of potato or onion for crickets and keep both in a cool place.:twocents

To feed crickets, go to the feed store and buy wild game food laying mash. While you are there buy a chicken watering fount that fits a quart mason jar. The mash is inexpensive. Place the mash on a saucer and the crickets will crawl onto the plate and feed. The watering fount should contain non chlorinated water i.e. well water or lake water. This is what the commercial breeders use to raise crickets. Otherwise use a slice of orange in a bait cage to provide moisture and food source.

I can confirm that onion pieces work well for crickets. Bait lady told me last week to use potatro chumks but didn't have any so tried onion pieces. They absolutely devour it! added plus was fatter crickets when I went out next! Almost all of the fifty or so crickets I had lived except one or two..and the crickets ate those!!Just wing pieces left...
