Fort Loudoun 4/21
I finished my work Tuesday around 4:00, and on a whim the wife and I decided to try a little fishing. The wind was pretty strong and with all of the recent rain, I expected (and received) fairly muddy water. The sun felt nice, and I had done some work on my MK foot pedal (Sometimes won't turn left!), so decided to go and at least try out my repairs. My bow mount finder is also on the fritz (new one on the way), and I realized just how much I count on that for depth and structure. Anyway, not expecting much we finally found a small cove that was shielded from some of the wind, and in running back and forth to the console, pretty shallow (7-8 ft). To my surprise, we started catching crappie. Not numbers, but big uns! My repairs worked only temporarily on the foot pedal, so most of my left turns were by hand. If you have never tried this, I would not advise it! Sidenote: ordered a new foot pedal today (B.O.A.T.: Break Out Another Thousand!) Good workout trying to steer, but managed to miss all obstacles, and catching some good fish. Remember, this is a small cove, but with it being 7:00, I made the decision to finish the day here and head back to the ramp around 8:00 (don't like trying to find my way in the dark.) Another boat decided to enter this small cove, and fish right across from us (30 yds bank to bank, max) and proceeded to fish the opposite bank, then turn down the side we were fishing, coming head on toward our boat. They fished what would have been the last spot between us, then pulled up and roared off without a word. I watched, and no they were not crappie fishing. They were throwing lures for the green monster. To confirm my guesses, I checked online, and yes the Tuesday evening Green Carp tournament was in this area. They were fishing for a $1000 first prize, which obviously trumps common courtesy. I have heard the cast at the boat theory, etc, but here is the reality. I am with my wife, 5'8" 147 lbs, and 55 yrs old. The world is full of nutjobs, so I decided against voicing my opinion or any retaliation. Opinions?

Congrats on catching the big fish, sorry the TM "fix" didn't work for ya. I would have probably done the same as you regarding the other boat. Some bass guys are considerate, but most are not. No sense lowering yourself down to their level. LOL.

I fished again yesterday and had a similar experience. I am now wondering if I am just too sensitive? Fishing in a different cove, fairly narrow and small, and I am the only boat there. I always check, and if someone is fishing a cove I don't enter. This guy comes in, fishes up one side, turns and fishes toward me. He then passes and proceeds to jump in the next opening beside me. I am not bashing anyone who fishes for any species, as I also fish for various species. Please answer this, is this accepted behavior? I don't want to be inconsiderate to others, and I expect the same treatment to me. I really would like to hear what is considered proper etiquette. As for yesterday, I just moved to another area of the lake. I did leave a considerable wake while leaving. Please provide me with insight. I sincerely want to learn.
