When running wire from skeg or tm body would it be okay to just tie into ground (black) wire to tm plug?

No.. You need to attach the ground form the skeg to the ground wire on the sonar power cord
The interference was coming through the 2 bank charger that was connected to separate batteries. I installed a stdp switch to isolate the charger connection which reduced the interference but not completely. So instead of the tm plug, i need to run the ground to the ground side of the sonar battery?
That is correct .. Skeg ground wire to sonar ground ... That's what solved my rf interferance along with a couple ferrite rings on the Transducer cable
Ok will try this
do u have a motor guide trolling motor mounted on an aluminum boat??? If u do , I think that a ground wire from battery your sonar is hooked to .to the trolling motor bracket would work. Then check for continuity from the shafts to skeg..If no continuity, put a short jumper wire from the lower part of shafts to the skeg.UU probably won't need the ferrite rings. (Just a thought...maybe that will help..good luck..)
Nope its a minn kota terrova
As long as there's a ground to the boat , somsomewere. Then I think all that would be required, would be a short jumper wire to the trolling motor bracket. This should get the ground down to at least the bottom of shaft. The ground needs to go all the way to skeg, though. This might require another short jumper wire, to skeg(this should work on the motor guides with the stainless shaft) tommyboyrn, has a min Koda though with composite shaft.I'm using the motorguide xi5, with composite shaft.ive grounded the skeg using a coiled wire.its make a big difference on my boat.thought I pass the info on.mybe someone else could try it to see if it helps them. (On my boat, it doesn't matter were the transducer is located on my boat.i have have the skeg grounded .I had some chokes as one time that I've took them off.they didn't seem to have much affect on my boat
Kosmo, I have a Minn Kota Maxxum with composite shaft and ran my ground to the top of the TM motor "only" helped but still had to add ferrite rings. Not sure I understand the "all the way to the skeg" ?
