gun lake report

kind of a report,
fished Saturday afternoon for a couple hrs, just wanted to get the boat wet and check things out.
water was 60 in the channels, lots of smallish gills, but only saw a very few crappie, and no takers.
water was quite discolored, with lots of green slime....
did not bring any home for the fryer.
wind was blowing hard into the launch when we went to load up, as I was approaching the docks, went to put in reverse to slow down..... the dreaded grind :( lower unit is shot...
so again no fishing for a bit , and all of the hard earned OT goes right to the boat.. love fishing but it sure can be an expensive and frustrating hobby at times...
I am going to need a relaxing weekend with all of you that come to the crappie camp!!!!

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason why or when it decides to do it either. That sucks.

I got room to fish in my boat at camp. Might have to watch or for one or two of Abby's barbie dolls though

hahahahah, I had BETTER have my boat back by then, already have a replacement ordered, dang near $1000 bucks just for the unit , which is not all that bad, will have a three year warranty , should be back up and running by the first of may.
last year was the first for me taking grands in the boat, as long as the trips are short they have fun, going to try and make it a regular thing.

Sorry about the motor issue John. Those things are never timely. Will be good to see you. Will the better half be there too?

better half will not commit until she knows it will not rain and it will be at LEAST 70 LOL
but she did not say no yet :)

Considering the weather that normally happens shes probably out of luck lol.

I was avoiding the subject like the plague!

I will put in a word for the bad weather to come south that weekend. Do what I can to help. Was 88 and sunny at my camp at Toledo Bend yesterday. Fish were not cooperating and my air conditioner went out last night. Like you said, you never know when. Just another expense to catch a few fish. I'm up to about $500 a pound average this year!!

I made it out this morning for a very short time, ended up sick

Water temp out in the main lake was 50, zero fish

Hope you get all fixed up john, I went Thur the same thing 3 years back at least you were close by unlike me being couple miles away:banghead
