Heading to Jordan Lake this Saturday. New to the lake, how do I pick a good spot?

I've read a lot of forums talking about the bridges for deep water, but I assume the crappie will be in the shallows this time of year. Is the rip rap good crappie fishing or should I just find some brush along the shoreline?

I will be using minnows. When fishing shallow water, do you normally cast and use a bobber? Does it make sense to troll along the shoreline with a spider rig setup in shallow water? I have tried some spider rigging (tight line) in deep water, but it is not inuitively clear to me how to do it in shallow water.

The same way but you pull your lines up according to the depth of the water

Old rule: 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water. 10% of the fishers catch 90% of the fish. 90% of the fishers spend 10% of their leisure time fishing and catch few. 10% of fishers spend 90% of their leisure time fishing and catch many.
All this equation causes one to become hard of hearing when ask "where and how". Just my two cents

The upper end of the lake has a number of shallow-water flats that hold fish. Some people anchor up near the shore and cast bobbers up as close as they can. Others slow-troll or long-line out in the flats. My Father and Brother went on Monday and did real well with a number of big ones in 3'-4' of water.

Follow the crowd. Look for several boats in an area. Get close enough to observe, but not close enough to interfere. Watch and copy, talk to them. Most will help you.
