Where to go?
Hey guys and gals over in Louisiana. I live in Central Arkansas. We have great fishing in my neck of the woods but I am interested in trying some of your waters. I have heard great things about Poverty Point for crappie and I want to try some of the bream fishing around the Shrevport area. I was hoping someone can steer me to a reliable source for up to date info on these particular areas. Thank you and good fishing.

Hey there. I've never been to PP, but live in Shreveport. I've found Caddo Lake has good bream fishing, but it's a big lake, so you'll catch a lot of smaller ones in the mix unless you find a concentration of big ones (which I never seem to manage). Black Lake in Hosston isn't nearly as big, but FULL of cypress trees and the shell crackers/bluegills are some of the biggest I've found anywhere. I've only been a handful of times, and caught them scattered, but 25 of them makes a good mess of fish. Worms under a cork about 4 ft deep or near the bottom did the trick.
Hope you find some good spots!

You could find a place to stay in Ruston and have a choice of fisheries. D'Arbonne is just a few miles back up the road to the north, Lake Claiborne is just a few mile away to the northwest, and Caney Lake is just a few miles south of Ruston. All of those lakes have good populations of crappie, bluegills, and chinkapin.
I used to live on Lake Claiborne. You will find the bluegill and chinkapin on or near the banks starting around the full moon in May. Crickets, worms, or baby crawfish will work for bait. Off of the main lake, up one of the creek arms is best.
And, from Ruston, you are only about an hour from either Shreveport to the west of Poverty Point to the east.
As far as up to date data, I can't help because I have not had a lot of fishing time lately. I would suggest prowling around the LA board to see what everyone is catching. Not much news coming out of D'Arbonne, Lake Claiborne, or Caney Lake right now because of the big crappie tournament being held on those lakes this weekend.
Good luck with your trip.

I will start chasing bream next week. I do most of my bream fishing on the north end of Toledo Bend.
