Crappie spawn in Lower Alabama
Went fishing last Thursday and caught 31 big bull bream and then went to check on a place that I like to fish for crappie during the spawn. Water temp. was 75 degrees and I caught one fish on a cypress tree, but he had not turned black. Went back Friday and caught another 35 bull bream and when I checked the crappie I caught 5 off of cypress trees in just a few minutes and they were all black as the ace of spades, water still 75 degrees. So I thought, ok a holiday weekend coming up, so I'll let the lake lice have it for the weekend and I'll hit them hard Monday. Woke up to cloudy skies and a threat of rain, but I went anyway. Get there and when I put the trolling motor in the water and the temp. had dropped to 68 degrees and I never got a bite. This is the 3rd time this has happened, I'm beginning to wonder if they will ever get a chance to bed this year.
