RICKIE,TOM AND GUYS
I HAVE A 998 AND A 859 ON BACK,IS THERE ANYWAY U CAN BUY OR MAKE CONNECTOR THAT WILL LET BOTH UNITS USE ONE 2D FOR BOTH AND AT SAME TIME DI ON 859 AND SI ON 998 SO WOULD NOT GET INTERFERENCE OR MIGHT DAMAGE UNITS AND OTHER UNIT 2D BE SHUT OFF.I DON'T THINK SO ,JUST A THOUGHT
-
IT IS NO WAY TO LINK THE TWO 2D TOGETHER AND NOT THE DI AND SI SO THEY WOULD BE INDERPENDENT?

You can do this feat with Lowrance HDS via Ethernet. I am not familiar with HB Ethernet. You cannot share a 2d with any manufacturers units tied to a common cable transducer at the same time. You can select 2d by switch to multiple units.
-
HB Ethernet is also the best way to do this ...
I cannot come up with a cabling scenario in my head that would allow 1 piezo to feed data to 2 head units at the same time ...
Cabling channels are always 1 transmit/receive signal - thru the wire channel - to/from 1 piezo ...

I can create a cabling scenario that would connect one 2d xducer to both unit's 2d channel and select which unit the 2d data would go to ...
But that's one unit at a time ... Leaving the "Un-channeled" unit with no 2d while the other is using it ...

THANKS GUYS,JUST WAS WANTING TO STOP 2D INTERFERENCE TO BOTH UNITS WHILE ON AT SAME TIME,WHILE ONE IS ON SI AND OTHER IS ON DI , WILL TRY SOMETHING ELSE
-
Are the units ethernetted ...??

NO RICKIE,WOULD THAT HELP?

G, if you buy an Ethernet cable of the right length you need and an AS EC QDE adapter for the 859 you can choose the 2D source for each unit - so only the XDCR is active and displays that info from the one set as the "master".
When I am running I set the 998's transducer (stern) as the 2D source and the 899 has the depth on the bow while the trolling motor is out of the water.
I think this is exactly what you want, right??

Like Robert said ... You will need the AS EC QDE for connecting the 859 to the Ethernet cable ...(the 998 has a direct Ethernet connection in the metal round port in the back of the 998 - the 859 Ethernet connection is in the cable collector that requires the AS EC QDE adapter cable) ...
Then you will need the Ethernet cable long enough to reach between the 2 units ...
AS EC xE ... Where "x" is the length of the cable ...
Ethernet cables come in 2, 10, 15, 20, and 30ft lengths ...
