I am seeing post where some people are seeing good images at over 10-15mph. After 15mph or around there I not only do not get a blurred image but also loose my depth reading. Im not upset about this if this is normal. But I would like to move my transducer around if It can get better.
The reason some can see clearly at those speed is transducer placement. How far below the water under the boat is the ducer placed. When the boat is moving faster the water "wakes" and the ducer planes on the water and therefore cannot get a good signal. If you can safely look over the stern while moving at speed you can see if you can see the ducer just at the top of the water behind the boat or in the wake of the water. The bubbles and wake water make the signal bounce off the bubbles instead of projecting straight down. The unit basically cannot see anything past the bubbles therefore you get no image or depth. Hope that makes sense.
At least where SI is concerned, not worried about image. As far as depth reading, I dropped my transducer about 3/8" and tilted back down. (Bottom of transducer was on same plane as bottom of boat.) That made a big improvement in image quality and high speed depth reading. I still get accurate depth reading at 25 mph. (Not sre what norm is either.)
There are some recent post of my transducer placement in Rigging forum if that will help. Keep in mind that I'm using a Sternmate and that moves front of transducer about 4" from transom.

I thought we went over your transducer placement? I think you should move it based on my experience.
We did go over my transducer placement for sure. But I thought that was to open up my left field of view with motor trimmed down. Because my left side is blocked when my motor is not trimmed up. I didn't know that would increase my speed at which images could be seen. You taught me so much, I needed more time with ya to soak it all in! Hopefully we can get together soon!!!
Recommended you get a transducer saver also because when you put the puck deeper in the water you are prone to break it off on stuff. The transducer saver has a spring that allows it to push up and go back into position.
Oh I do remember that info as well! That is a will do for sure!!! Gotta get my funds back up, hopefully before I break off my transducer. lol. Ima buy ur reels first.
