New Humminbird Helix 5 DI Help
Hey all! I picked up a new Helix the other day and got to try it out yesterday evening. I have a few questions and figured why go anywhere else.
I have my unit mounted on the bow, with the transducer mounted on my trolling motor. For my first question: Is there a setting to get an accurate depth reading? I figure my transducer is about two feet below the surface and when it's reading ten feet depth, my console unit (transducer on the transom) is reading twelve feet depth. I've come to trust my console unit, as this is all I've used in the past five years. If I am stuck adding two feet to what I see on my screen, that's okay, but if there's a way around it, it would be a tremendous help.
For my second question: I turned on my Fish ID, but can't seem to get any silly >0> fish symbols to show up on the 2D Sonar. I see the returns, not always as humps, but I see them, and in split screen, 2D/DI, I can generally figure out the hot spots on the DI are the fish returns on the 2D. I also see my jigs on the 2D, so I get confused and think to myself "nah, those hot spots are probably just my jigs". How can I determine which is a fish and which is my jig without grabbing my rod and moving the jig?
Thanks,
Rory
