Hi. Thanks for posting. I did not know about this... I bought a boat about 3 years ago that has a 9.9 on it... I really like the boat but one of the main reasons I bought it was because of the small motor and access to these lakes close to me in N.KY. After having fished many of these lakes in the couple of years, I found they have lots of smallish crappie. I have done better on the bigger bodies of water. Next boat will have a bigger motor.
I know you fish the N.KY creeks too and I'm ready to get back out on them...
i figured most dont fish those lakes since they dont hold good size crappie, but Kincaid has some monster Bass. And yea i do fish the creeks, although i havent done well on them in quite some time.
I would worry more about the condition of the ramps and their ability to accommodate some of the huge bass boats that are now sure to infest the lakes.
Some of the similar lakes I used to fish in GA had a rule that your gas line had to be removed from the motor and it was trolling motor only for the boats over 10HP. That was 30 years ago so that could have changed by now.
Not sure about the others, but i know on Kincaid you couldnt put a boat in that was over 18 feet. This may have changed though.
Beaver Lake is the only one I'm that familiar with ... and it's ramp was so short & so steep that it was a two man operation to launch/load a boat, because you were not lawfully permitted to rev up your "over 10hp motor" to put the boat on the trailer. Over 10hp motored boats had to idle their way around the lake, while the 10hp motored boats ran WOT anywhere they wanted
After a few trips to Beaver (in other peoples boats) I decided to not even try it, myself ... and stick with the larger lakes. The "smallest" lake I fish, now, is Cedar Creek ... and I'm getting to like it less, the more I go there.
... cp :kewl
Thanks for the info G! I know the ramps at Kincaid and Corinth would be okay for larger boats. Not so much at Bullock Pen unless they've redone it. Not sure about the others!
This is excellent info. Really helps us thanks for posting.
