I have two solutions. First way: use zip ties to hold it on. I keep extras and a pair of snips in my storage box, so if it hits a stump the ties will break and not the x-ducer, and I can put new ties on and keep on fishing. This works for the tm as well as the transom, but I have added a rail on the transom that my ducer is mounted to. I can raise it up when I am not using it, and the zip ties prevent breakage when it is down. Second way: buy a mount for the tm that the ducer goes in and it will be protected. If you are cheap like me, make one out of pvc. Cut a length of schedule 40 that is long enough for the ducer to fit in. Radius the top so that it fits the curve of the tm. Put in a notch for the cord and cut two slots for your clamps/straps, and mount it.
thanks Cmj. someday when you have the time, could you get a picture of the transom method, for the life of me I can't fathom how you would hold it on with zip ties and your extra rail idea is intriguing. I would like to be able to scan the Pierce Creek area an over around Adams Lake. I generally fish 89 or the pool occasionally and neither of those areas are bad, but the others are a potential nightmare for me.
Here is a pic with it up and one with it down. It isnt much to look at but fits the rest of my rig! You would think I could come up with something better since I work in a machine shop! If you are wanting a more professional version, look up creek Slick or one of the other guys on here that make mounts and im sure someone can hook you up at a decent price.Attachment 194783Attachment 194784 There are two holes in the bar for the pin that holds it up/down. You cant see it, but there is a notch in the side of the ducer mount that holds a very small zip tie. The larger ones hold it on too well, and you could still break the mount if you use them. I use two screws at bottom of the mount( not in the mount, but below it) to keep the ducer from rocking from side to side. Seems rigged, but like I said I am cheap! You could fix up something nicer if you wanted to spend a few bucks. If you wanna spend more than a few bucks, look up Cane Pole's thread on building a trim-style transducer mount. I will see if I can find it.

Aint nuttn wrong with that Chris. I just put a side scan on my little stick steer boat. Wish I had seen that before......and still may set it up that way when I get a chance.
