What is everyone's opinion on a good TM battery that is worth buying
I have used Interstate and Wallmart for both trolling and starting batteries and have not seen much difference in them. However, I put 2 Interstate 6 volt golf cart batteries in series in our motorhome. Now that is a major league difference there, but really heavy for a boat.
CountryboyNC discovered that AC Delco has the best warranties.
I've got a ac Delco 29 plate in mine it's 3yrs old no problem I can run it bout 5 hours fishin at night come home and check it the next day and still got between 50 & 60% charge
Yes I bought a AC delco in dec, so far so good, 2 year warranty. I had been using interstate, I got a interstate in the boat now as a back up battery, it is 2 years old, It wouldn't last but about 5 to 6 hours contentious trolling at 1 mph, so I went and bought the AC delco. I have since added a new on board charger, got the interstate on it, I used the interstate the other day and it held up a lot better, I believe I was having charger trouble. Now I have 2 batteries for trolling motor, I'm READY!Quote:

Save yourself $100’s and get a refurbished gel battery. Have been using one for the T/M for going on 4 years and it is just now ready to change out. Not bad considering I only paid $50 for it.

I've had an onboard charger in my boat since 1998 and it still works great. It's hooked up to wires leading to the motor and charges 3 batteries when the motor is running. You can also plug it in to charge at home. Wouldn't be without one. I use to camp at Kerr lake and would fish lights at night and troll during the day. Never had a battery fail me because the trolling kept them charged for the next night of fishing. 3 Interstate batteries has been used for over 5 years,and still work great.
If you have a Sam's store close, right now they have the Duracell on sale for like 79.00. Think it is made by Deca. Got a couple of them and really good battery.
