Help from the boys!

Last night I was tying and the 6 and 8 year old came out and needed to tie their own jigs. I let them dig through my materials until they found just what they wanted.
I then sat them on my lap and helped them each build one. Here are the results...

Left jig is 1/16th oz, and I am a fan of the pink and yellow. He insisted that there be a duck feather in there too. It actually looks like a good combo with marabou on top of the flank.

Right Jig 1/32nd oz. The tail had to be "Miami Dolphins" colors Flo blue and blaze orange it was! He also really liked the blue cactus chenille.
After we finished their interest was waning but they did say that this summer they would need their own tackle boxes. I think I can handle that!

Electric Chicken and a new color combo! Good job and good on you for getting them into that! Should pay off later!

Good to see that they are interested in more than just video games. Great looking jigs.

It was fun. I didn't mind cleaning up the mess that they left in their wake:fish I have a feeling I am seeing a new vise in my future and my old one will be passed along to the oldest. He was really into it last night!

The little one really likes video games, but he is also interested in doing standard "boy" things. The oldest is a book reading machine, but also likes to get outside and get dirty like a boy should! This summer we have decided that we are going to ride bikes, fish, and catch tadpoles once school is out. I think I will be able to act like a kid all summer!

New vise, more material and fishing trips to use their tie's. Dosnt get any better than that. Great job.

The nice part about these ties, there are a couple ponds just outside of town along a bike trail that are full of super aggressive Green Sunfish. They will eat anything and the boys love catching them one after another. Should build a little confidence in their ties if the Greenies are wrecking jigs!

Congrats on getting them into it!!! I'm a big kid who likes video games but have way more fishing stuff than the video games and tying can be done when the power goes out!!

That's good way to go. Time spent with you kid's is great. My 4 year old watches me almost every time she's not big enough yet maybe next year she'll be helping.
