spider rigging
Have any of you guys ever tried spider rigging? I have several friends down south that say it's the way to go. We normally vertical jig and long line. I have been thinking about getting a couple 3 rod holders and a double seat and trying this out. I think it would be a lot of fun if I could get it figured out. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

It does work great. All kind of videos on u-tube. It's not As easy as it looks if you are rigging any structure. Works great on channel ledges and flats. You cover a lot of ground finding those suspended fish. Even doing brush piles works great just a lot of work.

Tried it years ago. Not for me. But plenty of folks do it.

We do it during certain times of the year. It's a lot of fun and is a great way to teach kids to fish and keep them entertained. Let me know what questions you have, we have a ton of videos on it on our youtube channel kansasoutdoorsman1

I always thought I'd like to try that myself. My question is it worth it using only 2 poles? Kinda hate to pay the state extra $$$ for the privilege of using a third pole. The guys on the fishing shows have boats that look like a porcupine I figured they were covering different depths with all those poles.

I find that it's the only way to catch them, sometimes. I have two recommendations: 1) start with only a couple rods per person and gradually increase the number. 2) Contact Ed Phillips at Pro Angler Tackle. He will help you make good decisions on Bee Ready rod holders and Pro Angler rods.
I use his stuff and highly recommend it!

In the spring after ice is off its a good way to put fish in the boat. I use three rods one 14 and two 12 foot rods, work the flats and feeder creeks. Minnows are hard to beat, but prefer jigs if the crappie are so inclined. If you have any questions I can help you with free to PM me. And I also recommend watch videos lots can be learned from them.

Thanks for all the great info. I think it will just take some time to get it figured out. Might give it a try next week with all this nice weather we are are supposed to have.
