Anytime your able to fish the swamp is a good time to go Mr. C, I've had some mighty fine days while fishing in the snow and ice. Once my new boat arrives, I'll be hot on the trail of the elusive speckled perch.
Ink. New boat?? You been holding out on us. I want a ride in it!!
And yes, if I was younger I would go camping in the swamp in a minute. We use to camp every March in Sparkleberry when the white bass were running.
When Motel 6 started "leaving the light on for me" I got spoiled.
But, Mr. C I am going with you one of these days and camp in the swamp. It is on my bucket list. Wanna see that log you make that burns all night.
It's a date Ray, boat should be arriving in the next week or so. Once it's tricked out, I'll be hunting me some fishes!
Ink, whatcha gittin? Inquiring minds want to know.....
yea!!! got any pre delivery pics? -- shadboy and syumpy done showed they hand
now it inks time :biggrin
A couple of years ago, in th last 5 years I was breaking ice up in the Indigo Flats area. I was concerned about damaging the boat. The ice was about 1/4 inch thick. But we have camped there when it was in the mid 20's when we woke up. I didn't get up until Bobby had the fire going and the coffee was ready. And only then would i start the biscuits, corn beef hash and the grits going... But that has been 2 years sine I've been able to do any camping.. Steve, son, has been twice this years and I sure do miss going camping and getting that Duch Oven warmed up...
A few pictures from past camping and one of Indigo Flats when it was dry...
I've had two boats for a number of years now, a 16' Allumacraft with a 40 Honda, and 18' Skeeter with 115 Mariner. The Jon boat was my jigging brush pile boat, the Skeeter for tight lining and trolling. My bride to be insisted that I get a new boat, the only catch was I had to sale the two older ones. The Jon boat sold in 3 days, the skeeter has yet to sale but I'm getting many more inquiries as it gets closer to spring. Anyways, in lieu of two boats I'm going with a larger a Jon, after looking at many I decided on the Lowe 1860DLX, it will be powered by a 60 Merc four stroke tiller with jack plate, two Lowrance elite 7 sonars, Minnkota PD AP, and will have 4 Spyderlok rod racks, I had the boat made out .125 thick aluminum to make it very solid.
That sounds like a great rig...... I'm actually thinking of moving that way myself, I fish out of a 16 foot Bass Tracker but looking for something a little bigger for open water.
Gerald, thanks for sharing those pictures: looks like some good times and always interested in seeing that swamp when it's dry. I think I see a couple of them stumps I hit while motering through there. ;)
