Surprise!!!
Today I had a first happen to me and what a surprise. It was such a pretty day that Linda and I went for a boat ride. Tried a couple of spots but the upcoming tide had everything real muddy near Houma. But back to the surprise. As I was getting on step and reaching for my coke in the holder at my side all of a sudden I heard this loud hissing noise and the sudden feeling of being compressed. My auto-inflate life vest inflated. Wow that thing had me snug as a bug in a rug. I don't know if the rip cord got caught in my sleeve as I reached for my coke and I accidentally pulled it or it was something else. For about 5 seconds I was in panic mode with that thing hissing in my ears as it filled and squeezing up tight against each side of my chest and head. Once we realized what had happened we both had a good laugh. Has this happened to anyone else.

I'm in the coast guard and one day while doing a routine boarding, we were going thru the safety gear and I bent over to check the hin and got the auto inflate tab wet......... Hiss.... And I felt like a complete idiot, I stood up handed the paper work to another boarding team member and told them " And that is the end of your boaters safety coarse" and promptly got off the boat everyone was laughing. Oh yes it is a big surprise when they go off!

Gene I keep mine under my front seat in an open enclosure. My boat stays under my car port but there is a flower bed right next to the carport. Anyway one day my granddaughter decide my flowers needed watering. So she gets the water hose and proceeds to water the flowers, carport and boat. Mine inflated under my seat and I had to puncture it to deflate it and get it out. Trip to academy after that. So never water one with the flowers. lol:pray

I had three that over a period of a year and a half inflated inside one of my dry boxes in the boat. The first one, I thought I might have pulled the tab while moving things in there around. After the second one deployed I figured out it was the humidity. I went to manual deploy after the third one went off. Not as safe but cheeper to own.

Yeah, the bad part is the $25 for the recharge kit.
