Toledo Bend Info
From a "non-pro" on the Arkansas board (me):
Me and two buddies (old guys) are considering a trip to Toledo Bend to crappie fish. Timeframe up in air, but probably not going to be last week of march, or till after April 5. Could be before that, but don't really want to travel that far to fish bad or too cold weather. That ten day period is booked for us, any other time.
Have a camper. Have 19 foot alum boat. We'd be fishing 3 to that boat. We'd be staying about a week. We're old timey cork/minnow guys, but open to anything short of dynamite. (We might try that if we got away with it. :))
Interested in ANY info on
A) Where to stay. Campgrounds, etc. North Toledo Bend State Park looks ok, as does South TB State Park.
B) We might entertain idea of a guide for one day, especially if he'd agree to let us use GPS so we can fish rest of the week. I know some allow that, some don't. Guides is not something we've done, to be honest.
C) Any other info. Not wanting your GPS coordinates of your tops...... just any tips you might give guys to make a week long trip worthwhile.
PM me.
Thanks.
Bill

well, I am no expert on toledo bend... but i would have some idea's for you.
1) the time frame your talking about is prime time for pre / spawn on toledo bend. For me it's a very successful time to long line troll weed beds in 14-22 ft of water with 1/16 oz jigs. (or if you have a spider rig setup that will work great)
2) depending on weather some fish may be actively in spawn mode by that time... in which case you can catch in 2-6 ft of water with jigs
3) if any in your party are retired military, and your looking at the southern end of T/B... i can certainly recommend the army rec site there... they have many nice new log cabins and yurts for rent at very inexpensive rates.
Other than the above i hope someone else can chime in with some more info for you.
If you end up coming down in march shoot me a pm on here, I am tracking to be free most of that month and have been planning on regular toledo bend sac trips anyway... would be happy to show you around.

Thanks!
We're fighting amongst ourselves as to when to come.
P.S.
I now have 2-3" of FREAKING SNOW in my yard. Hit today. Hard to think about going fishing anytime real soon. But, we have to plan this sometime. I'd enjoy looking you up.
P.S.S.
If that pic of you is holding a Louisiana crappie, count me in (I crack myself up!!!)...............:)
