The recirculation pumps in the baitwells are mounted in the bottom of the wells and freezes up with the left over water trapped in them when it gets below 32 deg. It seems like a bad design to me. Nuthin I can do about it I don't guess. Anybody else have a pro crappie with any solutions to this problem besides draining the pumps or antifreeze ?

If the pump inlet is smaller the the inside diameter of a toilet plunger you might could put the rubber plunger part, minus the handle, over the pump inlet and then use an air compressor to blow out the water. I am imagining that the inlet has either the metal mesh or plastic strainer over it.
Yea, it's a lot smaller. The recurculator pump is the same as the live well pumps. They are a Mayfair/ Johnson 500 gph pumps. I just hope this really cold weather doesn't bust the housing of the pumps and the leftover water in them just expands up the hoses without cracking them. It just seems like a bad design to me to have to blow them out before freezing weather sits in.
