I will be trying out Hoover next week for the first time. Anyone know what crappie lures are good for time of the season? Any input would greatly be appreciated.
You can use all kinds of plastics tipped with a Crappie Nibblets....but since the water is COLD, you have to retrieve super slow, vertical jig slow, or jig under a bobber. Most will be in deeper water drop-offs or areas that are shallow and holding warmth.
I use swimbaits, others use tubes, shad shapes, jigs, etc....you just have to fish Sloooowwww right now!
Good Fishing!
Thanks for advice. Went out a couple days ago, water temp was 55 deg. We used waxworms and minnows caught a few. I also just purchased the slabalicious lure. Hope it does well. Always used live bait, I'm new to using lures. Going out in the morning will give up date.
I used the monkey shine slabalicious the other day. I caught a 13 3/4 crappie, plus many more. I also caught a saugeye. The slabalicious works great. I would the definitely recommend that jig. I'm actually ordering more.
