Swimbait jighead
I know you guys pull jigs quite a bit down your way and I'd like your opinion on a new swimbait and jighead I recently made, the hook is a mustad 28 degree #4 swimbait hook poured on a slider 1/16 ounce head to me it should be a perfect set up for pulling,casting,pitchin/shooting docks etc, whats your take?

The things I like about your jig is it would be great for open water, it has a good gap, and the wire keeper you used. Once people use the wire keeper, they will never go back to the standard lead barb. I pour my own jigs also. I prefer the Eagle claw 575 gold aberdeen hook. Don't ask why, but for some reason it seems the crappie prefer a gold color hook rather than the bronze down here. With the timber and brush I fish, I have a 50/50 chance to get it back and the hook is strong enough to hold an occasional stripper/hybrid you would hook into. Do you know if they make that hook in a gold color? I really like the gap you have.

I guide down here and pull jigs with litewire hooks most of the time due to Timber / etc....I push with gold #2's and minnows or Jiffy Jigs tipped with minnows....
They look good! I wouldn't mind pulling some baits with a wide gap hook...sickles work real well too!

For now they only come in black nickle but do range in size from #4 to 9/0 i believe with the wide gap i'd think anything over a #2 would be too big for crappie i have some coming so i will post up a pic when they come in.These hooks would be tough enough to handle a decent sized striper if your drag was right,i also made a weedless version to help with the timber problem...these jigs are a rough draft and the final product will look a bit better.

Nice looking head, I pour my own as well, using a #4 and #2 Gold Matzuro Sickle hook. I agree with the gold hooks for crappie.

Wide gap hooks are the best for crappie. I like it. Let me know when they are for sale.

Real nice jig head and I like the hook too. I don't think it would skip real well to go up under a dock. I could be wrong I don't think I have tried that style to shoot docks. I wouldn't mind buying some to troll with. They look great Bugman.

Thanks guys it's been too darn cold to fish and i've been dying to try them out but it's gonna have to wait a few days...i did make a small change i put the wire keeper on top to try to protect the plastic a bit better when shooting docks.I have my molds made now i have to get them listed but it should be any day i'll let you fellas know.
