Congratulations! That's 1 thing I want to try is ice fishing. Are those a good tasty fish? Thanks for sharing.
It's hard to find a better eating fish then a yellow perch!
Always wanted to try perch up north. Always wondered what the taste difference was between perch and crappie. Living in the Deep South I've never had the chance to try perch. A friend whom I work with from Canada says they are really good. But they've never had crappie either.
I hate to say it but perch is definitely better then crappie! I even prefer it to walleye.
I agree on the eating qualities of the yellow perch. If the lake I am on has a good population of them. I very rarely try for anything else. My freezer will hold perch , walleye , crappie and bluegill fillets. Those are the only 4 kinds of fish I eat. Everything else gets released.
Nice Jumbo's
Walleye I have tried and man it's good!! I'll have to give the yellow perch a try. Thanks
Perch and walleye are both members oh the perch similarity at the table. Both are excellent to eat. About the only fish I have tried that nay be better is a whitefish. My son caught one on Lake of the Woods and it was amazing.
Here are my table keepers Yellow perch .1 crappie 2 walleye 3 bluegill 4. All other species are released.
A dinner guest of mine one time expressed it this way. " I knew perch were tasty but perch caught thru the ice. Well if the good Lord made a better tasting fish he done kept it for himself."
By the way prior to this fish dinner. You could not have dragged this guy out on the ice. Now you couldn't keep him off of it.
