Are the channels well marked on weiss, folks have me nervous about trying this lake I have heard it's dangerous for a newbie
The answer is no it is poorly marked! Not only that Weiss is bad after spring rains of having old logs coming loose and floating just under the surface. How do I know because I hit one I the mouth of 3 mile. Followed a local in the creek coming out using gps and hit the log, broke several bolts on transom knocked off big motor cowel and knocked me kookoo! I was lucky.
I live on Weiss and the channels are marked. However this time of the year the water is extremely low and rains often wash logs off the banks ect. If you fish the lower part of the lake you will have less trouble than in the Coosa. The Yanceys bend Three mile creek area that Litebite is refering to is tricky even for locals. Best advice is not being in a hurry and you will tear up less. Pm me before you come and Ill try to help you
What the coach said, If you have a lake card in your GPS you will do fine. If you are in Yanceys Bend area check with the people at the ramps and at Pruetts fish camp, they will help you out.
Thank you so much guys
