Any lake in the Northern/Central part that ain't froze with decent crappie bite?

Live in Northern Ky and dad is off tomorrow and keeps trying to get me to get the boat ready to go to Ky lake tonight but we can only fish tomorrow bc we have to be back before Sunday morning for something at church and I really don't like to drive 5 hours just to fish for a day. Thought if there is a lake in the central or northern part of the state that's not froze and the crappie are biting a little maybe we can try there since our lake is still froze over. Anybody know if there's a lake we need to try tomorrow? Thanks

I dont think You will have any trouble with the daytime temps We have had, I was In Natural Bridge/red River gorge area Trout fishing last weekend when it was much colder and Mill creek lake which is like 90ft deep just had a thin coat, so I would imagine most whould be thawed by now. I know I will be on a lake in SW Ohio tomorrow.

I am going up to Acton Lake tomorrow, I installed a 24v Xi5 about 6 weeks ago on My Tracker and just now got everything working properly, I will probably play with it more than consentating on Crappie. If there is ice I will head over to Brookville.

I have been fishing the Ohio River tributaries and they have been good for crappie in the winter if you know where the deep brush piles are. However, the boat ramps were froze in as of this past Monday. I would bet that they have since opened up with the warmer temps but I don't know for sure.

Went to E. Fork last Monday instead and the coves I typically fish had ice. I didn't do very well. Again, I'll bet the ice is gone or very thin now.

I did good at Acton about 5 years ago. The 4-5 crappie trips I've taken there since have not produced. E. Fork just seems like a much better crappie lake, at least the last few years.

I live in N.KY by the way. I would love to have a better option for crappie in N.KY but have yet to find one. Boltz, Bullock Pen, AJ Jolly. I have tried them all in the past year. They all have tons of very small crappie in them.

I have had much better luck at Acton the numbers are there, but you will route through a lot of throw backs to get the 9"+ fish. I here from most guys EF is the place for larger Crappie, but the 3 times I went last year didnt prove it to Me, although I havent given up on the place, I just need time to get there when the Spring bite is on, I am always slammed with work in Spring dang it.

I would think Acton would have ice. I used to fish Brookville in winter when I live in Cincy. It's a good winter option IMO.

Well Acton was 90% ice, drove to Brookville lake and the only ramp I found open was the one East of the dam, but didnt have a dock and my boat doesnt have a kneel guard, so after checking out the Fly fisherman at the tailwaters I headed back down toward Tanners creek, there was thin ice under rt 50 but it was clear at the ramp, so I was able to launch. Headed up the creek and half way to the distillery I found ice, so I spent some time setting up the new Xi5, this thing is gonna be a great tool this year, only complaint I have is its is noisier then I expected, but not as bad a as My bubble box, lol. Threw a few roadrunners but no takers, wind kicked up along with the cold so I loaded up and headed home. Once I get back to work in Spring I will be saving for one of the HDS Lowrance ff'rs. Sorry for high jacking Your thread, but it happens You know.

I'm surprised Acton had so much open water and B-ville being iced up so much being it's so much bigger and deeper.
I would think that Xi5 would be a great asset to have on the nose of a boat.
