? about moon phase
Hello all. Looking at planning a trip for kentucky lake in March or April. Just wondering if the phase of the moon has any effect on the crappie bite. If it was a full moon or dark of the moon or in between would it make a difference to you or would you just go when it works best for you. Thanks in advance.

Id choose either 3rd weekend in March or the first or third in April. IMO there will be fish biting almost all the time in the spring, but you may just have better results if you plan around the moon cycle, especially for a spring trip. They wont always be in spawn mode when your talking about going meaning you may do best in 15 to 20 FOW in brush and still deep, but you can sure find some good fish at the times you are talking about. Come on warmer weather and spring. :)

Ive had this same dilema every year for the past 20.They will still bite regardless depending on your fishing style.Ive settled on the first week of April last few years for vacation time.Year before last they were still staged up deep.Last year they were already fanning beds with nearly 60 degree water.

Thanks for the replies. I know friends always go bluegill fishing during the full moon because they say sunfish spawn during the full moon. I didn't know if crappie are the same. Last year we went and the weather was terrible , but caught a bunch of fish. Like most, just trying to stack the odds in my favor.
