...how's the catfishing after those cold days and nights and after all that rain? Curious minds want to know. :)
I fished a tournament on Wateree Saturday morning. It was so cold the water would freeze instantly and if you had moisture on your hands they would stick to the boat if you touched it. The fish still eat cold or not. The thing about big blues they love the cold months. I lost 2 good fish that cost me about 35lb but we had 51lb for 3 and finished 4th out of 40. To answer your question the winner had 106 for three so fishing is good. Lol I have a few of our fish on video, I'll post it later. I have some video from the week before but the camera angle was a little to telling.lol
Sounds like I need to be catfishing. Ran into an older gentleman today with motor troubles (flooded, I think) and he said he had been catfishing from his old raggly run down boat and had caught fish up to 50#'s on red wigglers and night crawlers before the cold weather moved in. My next trip will probably be catting. Any tips as to depths to fish? I saw bait everywehre but mainly hanging near the bottom over 25' of water. In the main river channels the depths can go as much as 50' deep though with bait suspendeed around 20-25' deep. Should I target humps, deepest water, channel ledges, drift dragging hooks near bottom, ???
they are everywhere right now it just is a time of day thing. i like to target main lake ledges and humps. anchor on top and let your bait hit the bottom as close to the ledge as possible. marking bait in a area is always good but not a must. if i am targeting bigger fish i like to see a few large arches not a lot of arches. i am catching fish from 2' to 70'. good luck
Love to see your videos. I have a lot of questions you want to start up classes? Thanks for sharing.:highfive
