Anyone know the situation of them. Have they restocked them?
They stock every year. I talked to one of the Wildlife biologist at the Fish Expo over the weekend and he helped with some of the striper netting on Jordan recently. Our own biologist, Jessica Baumann, gave birth recently and is off the boat for a few weeks. The biologist said things were a little disappointing, but did not elaborate.
I've spent a lot of time on Jordan crappie fishing the past few months and have only caught one striper. The crappie are doing well and I can only guess that they are eating the striper young as they are stocked in the lake.
This past june tried trolling cranks caught a lot of smaller stripers did not see many during the fall
Its my understanding that the state really screwed up stocking Jordan and Badin 4-5 years ago.
Heard from a wildlife officer that after the HUGE fish kill that effected every lake in NC, the state but large ##s of striper fry into all lakes, however the numbers were not turning up on Jordan AND Badin. The conclusion to all of it was that the large perch population especially in these 2 lakes were EATING the striper fry before they reached a safe size, therefor heavily hurting the striper populations on these lakes. i believe Tillery was also heavily effected. so about 3 years ago instead of stocking a LARGE ## of stirper "fry" in these lakes, they went ahead and put a lesser amount of "fingerlings". The error put these lakes about 2-3 years behind.
Thanks for that info, Pete. That makes since. Hope both lakes recover soon. Shotgun
