New to Oklahoma

Hello everyone,
I have acquired an internship in Oklahoma from begging of Feb-mid May, I am obsessed with fishing and am obviously going to do as much fishing as possible. Ill be located in the Noble area, I am not going to have accuse to a boat, however may have the accuse to a Kayak every so often. I am willing to travel a little (an hour or 2).

Basically I was curious if anyone wanted to help me out with some areas to fish from shore, or areas that would be good from a kayak. I know ill spend some time on lake Thunderbird but its a huge lake so any added information would be greatly appreciated.

-I bought a GPS app on my phone and have plugged in "Fish attractant areas" for some lakes, How reliable are they, anyone ever fish them?
-Doesn't have to be just crappie fishing, looked into cat fishing and bassing too, as well as trout fishing the blue river.

Fishing the rip rap along the dam at Hefner is good. Easily accessible by foot. Just park and hop the wall. They might be upwards of 20' here.

The grate that is under water at the spill way on the dam at T-Bird is excellent right now. It is clear on the East side of the dam. It isn't that far under water. Look through the 2014 T-Bird thread for DI and SI shots of it. Towards the back of the thread. Quite a walk if by foot but can be done in 10 minutes. You'll have to fight the boats though as they are stacked up around the grate this time of year.

Still waiting on Carl Blackwell to pop off like it did last year around this time. I didn't know of a hotter place to fish for crappie than at Carl Blackwell last winter. Seemed like a lot of limits being pulled everyday at the fish house.

Last but not least be CAREFUL if out in a kayak this time of year. Might just leave it behind until spring time.

Id love for some of the Fish houses to get going! Ill be down by the end of the month so maybe I can get in on some of that.

The dock at Shawnee #1 can be fair this time of year and you might catch a few Saugeye. Its not that far from Noble. I think its like $3.00 to fish the dock.

pennfisherman, if you don't mind the 2 hr drive check out the heated dock at Eufaula State Park. It can be really good this time of year. Eufaula is one of the states best crappie lakes but huge (largest lake in state). The dock is at the Marina, call Molly Brown's Café that is there and ask how is the bite. If you like minnows you can buy them there also. The number is 918-689-7337

Thank you rdjj71m, I will defiantly take the ride! And check that out. While I am asking questions, does anyone know of any smaller lakes and ponds in an hour or 2 drivinf distance from noble, I am kind of over whelmed by the larger lakes.

I know of lake El Reno which I am going to spend some time at. And also dahlgren lake.

Take a look at the Duncan city lakes. Most have good fishing for different species. Info at bottom of here:

Blackwell Lake and it has a fishing dock as well. Pretty crowded so get your spot early. Kaw lake is also very good but you will need it to warm up before putting the kayak on it.......Ranger

Good and bad news about Duncan Lakes.....we took a road trip weekend before last. All Duncan lakes are below normal. Don't think you can get a boat on any of them. If you are in a yak, you might have the lake to yourself come spawn time. Don't forget to get a Duncan City fishing permit.
