TEN CENT HANDCRAFTED WIRE AND BEADS CRAPPIE LURE...HOW TO IDEA

Hey all you jig tiers. This might be worthy of a stickie as it will show you how I was able to make an inexpensive but deadly crappie and panfish lure for about ten cents worth of material. The supplies you will need are craft wire, 4 mm beads, a spinner blade and a hook. The tool you need is needle nose pliers. I used some red or some green wire I found at the thrift store. I already had some beads, spinners and hooks. Cut about three inches of wire to work with. Form a small top loop and secure with six wraps. Thread on to the wire in this order.....bead - spinner - bead - bead - bead - bead - bead. Leave a little space and thread your hook on the wire. Make a little loop for the hook and wrap it seven times. That is all there is to it. It takes you about five minutes to make one. What do you think about this idea? If YOU think it should be a stickie then let the monitors know your feelings.

Tip with a waxworm or a minnow. Slow troll or fish under a slip float.

Have you tried this lure yet, Ship? Am I right in figuring that the blade might flash from time to time, but without a clevis, will not consistently spin?

It will spin with or without the clevis. Cast it out, let it fall to the depth you want and wind it in. You can also slow troll it. I did not have a clevis the day i made it.

I've made them in the past only on stainless steel wire - they work good with or without a clevis. Only thing on the craft wire is what's the tensile strenght?? Would really hate to lose a big crappie.

Is that just plain mono line through your set up ? :confused:

If so I would keep a close eye on where that blade spins on the line for wear :pray
