Went to a small spot that usually produces in winter ,got there it was still dark eased out heard something in the water and the dog was staring that way uneasy so I shined flashlight and just what I suspected otters 4 or 5 of em . When the light hit em all hell broke loose . That wasnt good for the crappie bite in this small spot but I stayed and they finally bit a little got 9 crappie that were nice 3 yellow perch and 4 pickeral quit at 9 30 .wt was 36
Nice! Man that water temp is dropping fast. Was still in the mid forties at the surface a little over a week ago. Went to go out after New Years and after hooking the boat up glanced at my sticker and realized that my renewal was due on the first, crap! Looked through some papers on my desk and there was the renewal form from over a month ago. Hopefully we are not in for a long freeze, I really want to go back out.
Glad to hear you still caught some fish after all that commotion. I know of some trout areas in Western Maryland the otters just about wiped out.
Theres way more otters around then most people realize . They eat a ton of soft crabs too, most nites in summer there on my buddies pier eating .Shine light out there and they scurry off.Would love to have one mounted with a crappie hanging out of his mouth.My friend that traps caught one in a coyote set last week in worcester co.
That would be a cool mount. Looks like it's time to do some trapping in you area.
We catch them all the time in muskrat traps there are tons of them around and they are always in pairs

Genes in Williards, he used to be president of md trappers assc. He is the guy thats on outdoors delmarva alot catching the coyotes.
