Best I can do is tell you that when marathon training back in the 80's, I used to run from Pioneer Avenue in Caribou to the Post Office in Washburn. My other route was from Caribou to Loring, where I worked. As to the clam chowder - my wife would say to grab a Jane Brody's "Good Food Book" or "Good Food Gourmet" for the recipe. She's a wicked good cook, but relies on those as the books are easier to keep track of than notecards from the past.
Washburn, IL? I am not from there but I only live about 30 min from there. I have a spot that I deer hunt on the outskirts of Washburn. Gobob, Where are you from in Il? I live in a small community between Peoria and Bloomington.
