Dunno Marty...I have never used them....I got a thing, if its so windy I need chains or drift sox....I just put it back on the trailer and try it another day
that's the benefits of being a GEEZER. The rest of us will have to wait for those days. Marty I often have used 2-60" drift socks on my old 20' Stratos and then sometimes a chain. In my opinion your pontoon is gonna catch a lot more wind, so I'm guessing you will need at least 2 socks and possibly some chains.Quote:

Marty, I sold a friend of mine one of the Blue plastic ones in a 66". It seems to work pretty good holding his 26 fter. I would at least try it first before buying another. Best to run on tether like your talking about, but you can also run it on one side or the other and tack with the wind somewhat like a sail boat.

Probably. That one is twice as big as the old 77" sock. Just wait till you open it; that rascal is half as long as your boat. I bought two of them last spring. They were so big I exchanged them for the smaller size. They would go to the bottom, fill with mud, and stop the boat.
