Does anyone know who put out the milk crates in the back of Little Fork of Ruff Creek (Jonathan Creek). These look like they were put out for fish habitat, I am assuming. The reason I am asking, is I am hearing a little grumbling over them. Technically they are illegal. My plan may be to go move them into clusters and mark with a white pole.

No idea who may be responsible but could they possibly be somebody's idea of catfish habitat that a noodler might have put out? Maybe they haven't come back to cover them with rip-rap.
Who had access to those in numbers? I would like to have a few of them around my shop.
If they have a brand/logo printed on them, they're "stolen" :yikes and should be returned to the company.Quote:

justinp61... I am required (well maybe not required) to move them since I work with fish and wildlife. I have to be proactive to help anglers avoid boating accidents and boat damage, but I am 101% proactive for creating fish habitat as well.. The TVA stipulations for putting out fish habitat "legally" is that it is mark in a way that boaters will not hit it. So either the habitat is out deep enough to not get hit, or is marked. That is why I suggested moving it to one location and marking it. I do hate to mess with peoples stuff, but they have put it in public waters of Kentucky. However, I agree with CrappiePappy also. If they are stolen milk crates, than I am obligated to aid in returning stolen property.
Man what a waste of good milk crates. Don't people know they are for storing stuff in?
I personally don't agree with putting any type of plastic in the lake be it milk crates or the PVC stuff. I think it should be natural stuff only.
I'm all for someone putting structure in the lake to fish over, but at least have sense enough to put it out where someone can't hit it. They've obviously never replaced a prop or lower unit.
I didn't do it but... They make great artificial stumps! Fry can hide in them too.
I saw two men getting them ready to go out about a month ago. I ask what they were going to use them for and they were reluctant to talk to me. I didn't know that the crates were illegal, the crates were black in color and they were tying them in fours. They were in a big john boat.
Slip some cane in them and they might have something.
Best ones I have ever made were cinder blocks with tobacco sticks concreted in the holes. I saw them the other day while duck hunting and they were still in good shape.
