If you mark and save places in google earth be sure and right click the folder you save them in, and save them as a .kml file to your pc. Today I was going to check a waypoint I had marked in google earth and discovered that all of my favorites were gone. I assume that a software upgrade had been done that caused everything to default. Fortunately I had saved what had been marked and was able to restore without going through the process of finding the waypoints again.
Hope this saves someone some heart burn.
