7/11 On Barren 12/15

Got out an headed for my favorite channel on Barren this morning at 7:00am. Had the lake to myself as one other in the parking lot waiting on his buddy. The fish marked right at an just below the channel edge 12-14' down and I lost several rigs dragging them over the edge and letting them fall. They did seem to like that. I did as well today as I did on Friday 50-60 and kept 10-12. Was back at the ramp at 11:00am (thus 7/11) helping a fella load up as his big motor took a dump. We took turns pulling each others boat out, we decided that was easier than him crawling thru his pick up bed and me thru my Escape. Very good day, caught fish and made a new friend. I cleaned it up a little this time Pappy:angel:

Good info! Hate it for the guy with the crappy motor. That'll ruin a day on the water in a hurry...

Slabseeker1 or anyone else that may want to answer...... I hear so many ppl talking about fishing channel edges...... Do you think this method of fishing would work on creek's off the Ohio river???? I fished a creek today and caught some fish 3-5 feet deep around the banks but saw a lot of fish just as the channel dropped off... Problem is, with this being an Ohio river creek those fish could be anything! I found a nice channel break today with large stumps all around it but it was in 12-14 feet of water.... Just not sure if the fish I'm marking could be crappie when I'm getting fish 3-5ft deep along the bank?? Thanks all!!!! It was really windy today so fishing in open water with jigs was a little hard to do or I would have tried them!

Not really which surprised me. A lot of short fish. biggest fish around 10"........ that was all shallow though

Even while fishing the channel on the lake, we catch hybrid, yellow bass, flathead, so I'd move to the edge an try it. The larger crappie may be down there. I do keep one rod up ontop of the channel around 4' and catch a few on it. Either way its a win win situation. Good Luck.
