My transducer cable got cut somehow all the way to the bare wire and it might fry my unit. Can the cable be repaired by maybe soldering the wires, silicon chalk, and heat shrink wrap....or something like that? Or is it a lost cause and buy a new transducer? Also is there anyone who wraps there trolling motor shaft with something to protect it and your transducer cable from being hit. Like self adhesive tape or something, never seen that but just a thought
I'm sure folks have repaired them. Pm Cane Pole. But for the time and trouble, why not just buy a new cable?
I'll say you can try soldering, etc and that should get you back to being connected. Only big concern is the shielding around the wires that keeps stray signals from other things such as the trolling motor from doing bad things to your signal. If it is not intact it is impossible to put back as it originally was.
You should call Marine Repair Center in Springfield, they are excellent about telling you the straight skinny. And not to just sell you something.

It can be repaired, cut wires at different places to offset repair spots. Solder and heat shrink each spot. Before you start slip on a piece of heat shrink large enough to cover entire repair. Make sure to solder the tin foil looking shield also. Once you have it done coat each repair with liquid elec tape. Install large heat shrink coat also then wrap with electrical tape. Also you could contact Cane Pole and maybe get him to send you a link to his repair guide he posted a couple of years ago. I have one on my old hand control I repaired about 4 times and it still works.
I run my transducer cable in plastic splt conduit down the shaft and then where it wraps around the lower unit on the Trolling motor I split a piece of rubber hose to run it through and use plastic tie straps to hold it in place
Hogster1 thanks can u post a pic of that? And I got a new cable on amazon for 33 bucks with a ten dollar gift card. For that price I'll just put a new one on but want to do something to protect that wire
