Any fresh reports from Talquin? Making my first trip down Thursday.:fish
The bite had been slow but heard picked up some lately. The last report I heard was catching some at Harvey Mill........straight across from LTL. The fish should be close to the channel........that's where they were at this time last year. Look for the boats.......
Thank you sir. :santa
The quality fish are deep on river channel ledges. They are in their wintertime pattern. Find the thermocline and keep your baits in the strike zone. Fish should be suspended 18-22 foot over 25+ foot of water. Talquin is normally best fished by longline trolling, but I recommend tightlining this time of year for numbers. If the river clears, there will be a hot bite up there. This area can be dangerous and I would trailer my boat up to Coes or High Bluff. You can longline the Iron Curtain, but it has a narrow channel that can get crowded. Purples and pink jigs with bright chartruese tails have been the best colors. If you have trouble finding fish or rigging PM me.
