Hey eveybody after seeing most threads about Oconee me and my family going to go and try to figure the lake out. Does anyone knows if the fish attractors buoys in sugar creek holds any fish. Don't have any electronics to verify and we see alot of them so I figure this could be a good starting point. Thanks and I hope I learn more about this lake in the following year.
never fished that lake but without a finder i would use the old fashion one a heavy weight and mark a line at different depths find the bottom and move slow you will feel the ledges and or brush piles keep several poles out at different depths when you catch a fish start pulling all poles that depth . you might try 2 hooks on each line with a heavy led on the end drop to bottom and make 2 cranks . go very slow and watch the longest pole for pull back like it is dragging the bottom or hit a ledge or brush pile .the marked areas probably been fished but more will move back in shortly.
best advice I could give is, if you don't have electronics, just concentrate on the bridges. Fish always hang out around them.

From time to time. Get a Lake Oconee Map and look at all the different depths of the marked shelters. The fish have been holding 10 to 14 feet deep. Good luck!
Before the age of all the modern electronics we drifted minnows near the bottom in the middle of the creeks on my lake (Clark Hill) and did well. Watch where any other boats are fishing and that'll give you a clue as to where to start.

The bouys that read Fish Attractors, is timber that engineers left when they impounded the lake. They are really not a "fish attractor" per se, like sunken structure that was placed there after the lake. Fish do hang out around them, but every one is different, some will be just under the surface of the water, some of the tops will be 20 feet down. So even if you find one, and don't have electronics, you have no idea what depth to fish at and it will probably be a waste of time. If you already have a boat, and this is something you want to do,you should get electronics, cause heres the kicker. I sat on this school of fish for an hour the other day before we caught one. When they finally started biting it was fun, but without my graph, I would have just been fishing blind and wondering if there was anything down there.
