Winter Fishing
I am taking a 10 day vacation starting next week. I would like to take a break from all the hunting I have been doing and go for my first real wintertime crappie trip for a day. I would like to know what technique I should use. Slow trolling, vertical jigging, spider rigging etc. Approx water depths I should look for. And which lake is typically a good producing crappie lake for this time of year. I am clueless about winter fishing, so assume I know nothing. Thanx in advance for any help!

Might depend on where you are going to fish? ????
-
Was hoping for a suggestion of where to fish. :biggrin
Right now leaning towards Grenada. Never been there though.

I hear it is slow but I would spiderrig with minners and critters and fish slow! !!! Sardis is probably a better choice!!!!
-
This time of year I'd start on Sardis and check out Enid.

Vertical jigging and spider rigging rule the roost in the winter time. As far as lakes to fish there are many, take a leap of faith and go get em.

Slade I wish I was were I could take you down to Lake Erling one day this coming week, I think we could put a woopin on some. But I'm screwed for fishing during the week until I get someone hired to replace my key employee. Go get em man and let us know how you do.

Don't forget to look close to home. Sometimes more time spent close can mean ,ore fishing time. With that said I like fishing all them lakes when the opportunity arises

MOST FOLKS HAVE SEVERAL LAKES IN ALL DIRECTIONS PRODUCING EVEN WHEN WORD IS FISHING IS DEAD!:twocents I WOULD SUGGEST VERTICLE JIGGING ,BUT MOST METHODS WILL WORK IF SPEED , DEPTH , AND LOCATION ON THE WATER IS FIGURED OUT.:fish
