What do you use to tie your weight to your tops when your sinking tops or other brush with cinder blocks or other weight? I have used nylon rope but I feel like with current, the rope will rub on the block fraying it and eventually breaking it. I was thinking maybe some sort of wire would work. maybe some copper wire that won't rust out. Thanks for any input. CF
I collect stainless steel wire from commercial insulators that come in our yard to do their work. After they wrap the insulation around the tanks they wrap the insulation with this wire before putting the jacket on.
Some times they give me a whole spool of the stuff.
I like copper or aluminium but with the prices at what they are now it gets pretty costly,i think i'll try electric fence wire and see if it will last.
(i use spinner wire) find you some one in telco constuction they use a stainless steel wire to wrap the phone cables to the steel strand when they place it above ground,will not rust and small enought to handle easy,1 roll about 1200 ft(lots of piles)
electric fence wire...doesn't rust and easy to work with.

The best thing that we have found so far is regular house wiring. Strip out the white and black coated wires and the bare copper wire also. No need to strip the black and white wires down, just twist them around your blocks or whatever and your brush. A 10 foot piece of 12/2 wire will yield 30 feet of wire stripped apart.
Also, your jigs and hooks won't hang up like they do in nylon rope.
I've also used regular house wiring. It works and should last forever. Any kind of stainless, copper, aluminum wire will work great, just whatever you can get cheap.
Telephone wire. The telephone repair and installers waste lots of it.
