I am from western Pa. but get out east often with my wife to her home in Kutztown,Pa. Any good lakes out that way for crappie! If you ever head west let me know, I could give you some good leads. One between us is Raystown Lake. Some really good spring crappie and bass action there.
I have fished Raystown a few times but only for stripers. Didn't do very well. Don't know the Kutztown area, but further east you want to try Nockamixon. I have heard of a lake probably closer to Kutztown, just can't think of the name just now. When I remember or find out I'll post for you. Pop
Stripers are tough and spotty. But bass and crappies are great in some of the back bay areas and the main lake if you can find them. In the Kutztown area there is a small lake Leasers close by and Beltzville a little further north, Blue Marsh near Reading. Also the Reading City water supply has some great crappie holes, but only fishing from shore. That is all I know of in that area. All of it is early spring then it gets real tough. Raystown is during the week spring and fall. On weekends and during the summer forget it, it is over run with large high speed boats. The main lake looks like the ocean after they get it all churned up!!!
I am from eastern PA. Just getting into the crappie scene, but I had success with them at Gouldsboro Lake when I lived up in the Poconos....about 3 years ago!
