Burnt Mills / Lake Smith
Tried BM on Sunday with my God son, we arrived about 9 AM to my suprise there were no one there:scratchhead
Arrived to my first spot and went to get the minnows, I left them at home:banghead, I assured my buddy I've caught fish with out them, water temp was 49 degrees....
We fished until close to noon with no takers, WT got to 51, no bites so me my bud and skunker left and headed to lake Smith (His call) I grabbed the minnows on the way, the 3 of us launched again (WT 45) and fished until about 3PM when he put his rod in the rod holder, so I humbly put the gear away and called it a day.
No fish, No bites.
Tough day for me, sorry no pics.

Thanks, Mike. I've been wondering what the fishing is like at Smith.

Smith can be brutally tough when the water gets cold. It's simply loaded with fish, but it's hard to tell in the winter.

Don't feel bad, I haven't fished since early oct. decided rather than switch the 20 for the 9.9 and head to Suffolk Saturday , I packed up the canoe and headed to a private pond that is a sure bet... Gave em everything I had (except a minnow) and ended up with 1 crappie and 2 Bass.. Either I lost my touch or the fish were shut down, on a side note those three fish were all caught right on the bottom in 12-14fow

Time spent on the water with friends and family is worth more than fish in the boat anyways.
Besides that, just remember you can only do better next time.:ThumbsUp

I spoke with one guy at Smith, he didn't do very well either, he said he had 1 bass to the boat.
@Alboy79 :ThumbsUp excellent advise!
@bennett Glad you got into a few, I haven't been out in quite a while also, was hopeing to stock up some filets.
Once they get into the winter mode they should be back on track..

sounds like a tuff day fishing. The crappie are starting to bite good at n/w river. I fished there sat and saw hog choker and his son Dr. Pete. the weird thing was the water temps was at 45 degrees and the fish were holding in 6 to 8 feet of water. It took me two hours to figure it out but ended up with some decent fish by noon. Last week the fish were holding in 10 to 12 ft near bottom. Go figure!!!! I know you will find them soon..
