Thanx all!
Gill net study was done last year with only 44 jacks caught in a 3 night netting and only 4 of the fish were over 4 years old!! which made the *^*^* Alabama biologist I have been arguing with the last 6 years that something catastrophic had hit the Sauger, admit there was a problem. The gill net survey before that in 2006 caught almost 350 fish!!Their solution??lower the limit to 5 and make them all have to be 14 inches or better now .I told them there have to be some fish for any limit to work so how about a restocking program?. Not enough information to warrant that I was told. I bet you it the Green Trout disappeared in one year like the Jacks did the biologist would be crawling all over the river and lake. My buddy and I managed 6 total last year when the gates below the dam were opened but only could keep 2. Saw some low lifes the same day throwing every size they caught in their dip net hanging over the side so if the man came by they could dump them!! This year very spotty so far according to T Cooley at Cooley's Grocery. I saw one caught on a bridge corner from a guy using a spoon .
