Guntersville, 11/11 HAPPY VETERANS DAY, thank you for your service!!!
Managed to get out early this morning on a causeway along Hwy 79 this morning. I got set up on the Causeway at 0415 and had plenty of company. Water was down by about 1'. The water was steady for the first two hours barely moving at all, and then started to move a little more after day break, but it did not seem to move much at the causeway like I would have wanted. At first light the bite was on but it only lasted about an hour during that time. Water was a good color and very clear with 5' of visibility. I started by throwing a Monkey Milk BG with a 1/24 jig head and caught a couple of fish on that. Started trying different combos and found 1/16 pink jig head with the Monkey Milk BG baby shad was more porductive. I was getting bit and the line would jump when they hit, I had to reel like crazy to catch up to the fish on the line. And then, other fish were just there with no thump. Thankfully, the skip jacks were not there, but boy the stripe were in there thick, but it kept it interesting. Water temp seemed like about 60 or so, not cold but cool. No grass floating thru while fishing. Here is a pic of the catch. A couple nice fish, kept 18 for dinner. THANK YOU to all our veterans out there. Thank you for your service to keep our country free.:biggrin
