Rising Full Moon Crappie

Matt and I went out for the last couple of hours of daylight this afternoon. What do you know crappie are biting in the afternoon like they are in the morning. We managed to keep 19 and lost several others. We caught them shallow and deep on jigs and nibbles. We didn't find any real big ones, just some good eaters. After cooking crappie for some hatchery buddies Wednessday, I have decided that I like to eat the thin crispy ones better anyway. Y'all have fun out there tomorrow while I am running nets. I'll be day dreaming about my next thump!

Running Crappie trap nets I guess your sampling ? The bite should be good after dark with the moon. Good catch guys!

Yep, we are running some trap nets and mini fyke nets in Dix Creek on Conway, to get some base line data on the Nursery Pond stocking simulation that we did today. I always have a hard time sleeping the first night of the year running nets. Too excited to see what we will find.

Good job on the fish catching, Matt. You certainly have gotten the hang of this crappie fishing stuff! Before you know it, you and Matt will be entering CACA tournaments! Thanks for the post and pic.
