Went back to Chicot Monday afternoon and the bite was good. Ended up keeping 11, but caught a lot more dinks. Went to crank the motor to head on in, and motor would not turn over. Nothing. Luckily I wasn't far from the launch and had a good tail wind behind me. Trolling motor worked fine. got back home and put it on a charge and it cranked fine the next morning.

I fish Chicot about 12 of my 14 days off. I can go and catch bass anytime. But this is my first year trying the whiteperch seriously. My last hitch off, I fished hard out there with jigs. I'd pick up one here one there. But never could get on them good. Just about drove me crazy. But I caught mostly around the grass mats in ski lake area. Glad your doing good out there.
It's hit and miss at Chicot. The only times I see some really nice fish caught is in the dead of winter, when everybody is setting yo yos. they really take a lot of fish out on those things. I always make one trip with the yoyos just for the fun of it. But some of these guys fish them hard and take a LOT of fish out.
that's exactly where I fish most of the time. I start around the ski lake area and if they are not biting there, I head out to the Branch and Turtle Island.Quote:
